About the Webinar: 

Dr. Allison will discuss briefly the history of pediatric cancer and the most up to date local and national pediatric cancer incidences. She will discuss data specific to Nebraska and the on-going research  to better understand the etiology of pediatric cancer. As a clinician, Dr. Allison is passionate about the care her patients and their families receive and will detail what it is like to go through pediatric cancer treatment. Lastly, she will discuss the survival outcomes of pediatric and the long term side effects associated with treatment. 

Learning Objectives: 

1) Identify national and local childhood cancer incidence and mortality.

2) Review the current landscape of childhood cancer treatment and survivorship.

3) Discuss updated treatments and practices for childhood cancer.

4) Illustrate the impact of childhood cancer survivorship.


Speaker

Dr. Jenna Allison is a pediatric oncologist at Children’s Nebraska and the University of Nebraska Medical Center and an assistant professor in the College of medicine. Dr. Allison completed her undergraduate degree in medicinal chemistry at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and attended medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She completed her pediatric residency and hematology/oncology fellowship with the UNMC/Children’s Hospital combined program. A self-proclaimed Nebraska “lifer,” following fellowship, Dr. Allison stayed on and joined the faculty at UNMC in 2021. She is a member of the Pediatric Cancer Research Group and the Pediatric Cancer Epidemiology Research group. Her interests include solid tumors and Quality Improvement, and she is currently working to complete her Master's in Clinical and Translational Research.
