About the Webinar: 

In the U.S. every 2 minutes someone is diagnosed with lung cancer & in N Nebraska it is the leading cancer killer. In 2024, the American Cancer Society estimates 1,190 new cases of lung cancer in Nebraska and 700 deaths from lung cancer in Nebraska. Please join us to better understand how lung cancer impacts Nebraska, hear about the importance of lung cancer screening and learn about the impact of lung cancer on survivorship. 

Learning Objectives: 

1) Identify national and local lung cancer incidence and mortality.

2) Discus current lung cancer screening guidelines.

3) Review how lung cancer screening works.

4) Illustrate the impact of lung cancer survivorship. 


Speaker


Dr. Adam Wells is a Pulmonary and Critical Care physician at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE.  He is the Section Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Nebraska Methodist Hospital and also serves as co-ICU Medical Director at Nebraska Methodist Hospital.  He is on the advisory board for the Thoracic Oncology Clinic, where he also practices, at Estabrook Cancer Center at Nebraska Methodist Hospital.  He also serves as the Chief Medical Officer of Select Specialty Hospital in Omaha. Originally from St. Paul, Nebraska he achieved his undergraduate degree at Chadron State College before completing medical school, residency, and fellowship at UNMC in Omaha.  He is married, has four children, two dogs, and a tremendous sleep deficit.   He is also renowned for buying tickets to concerts before checking his availability and is an avid vinyl collector.
