About the Webinar:
Dr. Peter Liang, a member of the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable Steering Committee and a researcher specializing in colorectal cancer prevention, will be presenting on early-onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC). After a short introduction to colorectal cancer, Dr. Liang will delve into EOCRC, discussing: 1) the extent of the issue, 2) the individuals it impacts, 3) the reasons behind it, and 4) suggested steps forward.
Learning Objectives:
1) Discuss the epidemiology of early-onset colorectal cancer.
2) Identify what we know about potential risk factors for early-onset colorectal.
3) Illustrate solutions for addressing disparities in (early-onset) colorectal cancer.
About the Speaker
Peter S. Liang, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Population Health at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and an attending gastroenterologist at the VA New York Harbor Health Care System Manhattan Medical Center. Dr. Liang’s primary research interest is colorectal cancer prevention. He studies sociodemographic and geographic disparities in colorectal cancer screening and outcomes, the comparative effectiveness of different screening strategies, novel methods to increase screening adherence, and early-onset colorectal cancer. His research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, Veterans Health Administration, American Gastroenterological Association, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, ReMission Foundation, and industry. Dr. Liang serves on the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable Steering Committee, ACG Research Committee, and the New York Citywide Colorectal Cancer Control Coalition (C5) Steering Committee.
